Empresas Copec S.A. reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2023. For the third quarter, the company reported sales was USD 7,286.38 million compared to USD 7,354.16 million a year ago. Net loss was USD 30.96 million compared to net income of USD 473.86 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was USD 0.033417 compared to basic earnings per share from continuing operations of USD 0.354203 a year ago. Basic loss per share was USD 0.023819 compared to basic earnings per share of USD 0.364546 a year ago.
For the nine months, sales was USD 21,856.76 million compared to USD 21,507.18 million a year ago. Net income was USD 182.57 million compared to USD 1,474.66 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.125486 compared to USD 1.086324 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was USD 0.140457 compared to USD 1.13448 a year ago.
Empresas COPEC SA is a Chile-based holding company engaged, through its subsidiaries, in the energy and natural resources sectors. The Companyâs operations are structured into four business sectors: the Forestry Business. Fuels Business, Fishing Business and Other Investments. The Company operates in the forestry business through its affiliate Arauco, which produces wood pulp, panel and sawn lumber. The Companyâs fuel business is focused on the liquefied fuels, lubricants, and liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas markets. The Company operates in the fishing business through its affiliate Pesquera Iquique - Guanaye, which produces fishmeal, fish oil, canned and frozen seafood for human consumption. The Company has productive platforms in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the United States and Uruguay. On April 11, 2014, the Company with Inversiones Ultraterra Ltd sold their total stake in Empresa Electrica Guacolda to AES Gener.
