Comtech has announced its collaboration with Eutelsat OneWeb on a project to provide connectivity services in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to Antarctica.

During a test phase launched in January 2024, the American satellite communications specialist claims to have achieved a throughput of 120 Mbps, despite the fact that this is one of the world's most isolated regions.

It explains that its aim is to make it easier for scientists stationed in Antarctica to carry out their day-to-day activities by having access to a real-time connection, whether for their research work or their contacts with the outside world.
