Konica Minolta and Fujifilm signed a memorandum of understanding to begin a feasibility study for an alliance in the printer, office printer and production printer segments.

The tentative timetable for establishing a joint venture is in the second quarter. The JV would explore coordinating the procurement of raw materials and parts.

The shareholder ratio under an agreement would see a majority ownership by Fujifilm Business Innovation.

"We are confident that this partnership will create a new framework to enhance our supply chain," said Fujifilm Business Innovation Chief Executive Naoki Hama.
