Lectra has announced that it will now directly manage the production of its cutting equipment manufactured in China and mainly dedicated to its Asian customers, by taking over, via a newly-created subsidiary, the activity of its subcontractor VDL.

Since the acquisition of its competitor Gerber Technology in 2021, the group has relied on a plant of the Dutch group VDL, for the manufacture of Gerber-brand multi-ply cutters as well as its quilters.

The Suzhou site, located west of Shanghai, will now be able to benefit from the standards of operational excellence already implemented by Lectra at its two other plants based in Bordeaux-Cestas, France, and Tolland, USA.
