MetLife, American International Group and Arab National Bank Cooperative Insurance Company reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2018. For the quarter, the company reported net loss before zakat was SAR 15,590,000 compared to SAR 6,868,000 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 75,917,000 compared to SAR 87,661,000 a year ago. Net profit of policy holders investment were SAR 768,000 compared SAR 303,000 a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment were SAR 1,162,000 compared to SAR 1,380,000 a year ago. Loss per share was SAR 0.45 compared to SAR 0.2 a year ago. Net losses before Zakat for the first quarter 2018 have increased over the first quarter 2017 by 126.99%, mainly due to decrease in net underwriting result for Health Insurance due to higher net claim incurred, offset by, reduction in doubtful debt expense; reduction in General and administrative expenses; improvement in net underwriting result for other lines of business; increase in investments returns for policyholders' and shareholders' operations together.
