On a per-share basis, the Louisville, Kentucky-based company said it had profit of 79 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 91 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 73 cents per share.

The pizza chain posted revenue of $571.3 million in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $578.9 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $82.1 million, or $2.48 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.14 billion.
