BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - In the wage dispute for doctors at 23 university hospitals across Germany, the Marburger Bund union intends to increase the pressure for its demands with a second warning strike on March 11. During the all-day strike, there will be restrictions on non-urgent operations that can be postponed, the Marburger Bund announced in Berlin on Friday. The respective clinics will be offered agreements for emergencies.

In the negotiations with the collective bargaining association of the German states for 20,000 doctors, the Marburger Bund is demanding, among other things, a 12.5 percent pay rise and higher bonuses for regular work at night, at weekends and on public holidays. The first warning strike at the 23 state university hospitals covered by the collective agreement took place at the end of January./sam/DP/ngu
